Here we see the first Effer 2750 that has been build during the lift of a mold for a windmill-wing. The crane is owned by VST (Vamdrup Special Transport) from Vamdrup (DK). |
The crane is lifting here a load of about 7,5 tonnes on an outreach of about 13,5 meters. It is capable of lifting an impressive 16 tonnes at that distance! This job is obviously not taking this crane to it's limits, but most modern knucklebooms in the 150 ton/mtr class would have difficulties lifting a load like that, at that distance!! |
At the other side of the mold stands a 2nd crane, a Palfinger PK85002 that can stand a lot closer to the load. It is lifting about 6,5 to 7 tonnes here. |
Here we see why the Effer 2750 is standing so far away from the lifting point. This way there is enough room to get the trailer into the building. |
After the load has been put onto the trailer it is being pulled outside... |
...which is a bit tight at this customers yard. But with the hand steering of the Nooteboom Teletrailer it works. |
So, some more details on this amazing crane. It is the first of this model, which took some time to build. The telescopic boom was already at display at the SAIE of 2006 and the entire crane was ready at the Transport 2007 in Herning. The remaining time (tiil end of 2007) was necessary to build the special Volvo chassis and mount the crane onto it. |
The base chassis is a Volvo FM480 6x4 with full air suspension, that has been equiped with 2 extra air suspended front axles by OA Opbyg (not a 8x4 as base because it is not available with full air suspension). The air suspension is important to keep the height of the truck as low as possible. As it stands here, but with the boom a little lower and without exhaust and flash lights, it has a height of 2,95 meters. |
The crane is equiped with a very low foot, similar to the 2100 that is operating at VST. The complete support frame, basically everything below the crane, was built and installed by KL-Kranservice. The complete frame, just like the 2100, can be demounted. |
As there are no standard components availble for cranes in this class, they had to build everything theirselves. This also includes the outriggers. Here we see the 2 tiltable rear outriggers that are tilted by small cylinders. |
After the mold was taken out of the building, the crane also drives outside. In this position the truck can be moved slowly without any problems. |
The Volvo chassis is equiped with an I-Shift gearbox. Behind the cab stands a tower with the diesel- and oiltanks. Below those are some toolboxes. The own weight of this truck is about 48 tonnes! |
Soon this cranetruck will be equiped with ballast (about 15 tonnes) that can be mounted to the crane foot, just like at their 2100. The ballast will be carried on a drawbar trailer. When ballast is mounted the turning circle of the crane-foot increases, but therefore the outriggers don't have to be fully extended to the side where it has to lift. |
Many details of the 2100 crane where also implemented here, that is why it also has the tiltable support-plate holders aswell as a small winch under the telescopic boom to help lift the heavier chains, schackles etc... |
The 2750 can also have a negative angle on the telescopic boom, as can be seen here (telescopic boom bends higher than the main boom). This is usefull in situations where you have to lift something underneath obstacles. This wasn't possible with the 2100. |
The Palfinger PK85002 is also being set up outside. It is mounted on a FM12-460 in 8x4 layout. The crane is mounted by Hadsten Tipservice and also a reinforced chassis to the front. It is an F version that extends 7x hydraulically to 17,8 meter. The truck is painted in the colors of the company K-Buhl, whos trucks where all added to the fleet of VST. |
The 2750 is also set up and is being hooked up to the mold again. |
In this position of the main boom, at an angle of about 20 degrees, the crane has it's highest lifting capacity. The maximaum capacity is 220 ton/mtr. According to the official lifting table (slightly changed since Herning) it can lift 45 tonnes at 3,2 meters, 37 tonnes at 5,81 meters or for example 13,95 tonnes at 15,8 meters. According to VST the crane can, especially at close range, do even more !! |
Here the ~14 tonnes weighing part is hanging at both cranes. |
After the trailer has been pulled away, the part is layed down on the ground. |
After that both trucks go into the hal again to lift the 2nd part of the mold. To the right side of the outriggers we see a hose. It is connected to exhaust and transports the exhaust-fumes outside of the building, a method generally used by VST when lifting inside buildings. The raised exhaust is closed. |
The 85002 is also coupled to this mold. Here we see the hose going out the left. |
This Volvo is a tractor, but is equiped here with a loading box that carries the jib. |
As the mold is hanging in the air, the trailer is being pushed back in... |
...and driven back out, again using the hand steering. |
The trailer is being pulled by a Volvo FH12-460 6x4. |
The tractor is equiped with a Palfinger PK35000 crane. The chassis has been reinforced to the front, as is the case with most of the trucks at VST. |
This job of course doesn't show the full potential of this crane. VST bought it especially for the complex and heavy lifting jobs at places that usually have limited access (low ceilings, small doors, less space between other machinery, etc...), but you just don't have such work every day. So I hope to catch this crane again when it is busy on a job like that :) |
