SAIE 2006 - Part 2 - Knucklebooms

Cormach

At Cormach there where 2 truck mounted units. The one above is a 88000 E6 on a Scania R470 8x2. The lower one is the new model, a 34000, mounted on a Iveco Stralis 480 4x2 tractor of Giolo. A single crane, model 125000 without a jib, was also on display.

Effer

At the Effer stand the boom of the new topmodel was already on display. This model is the predecessor of the 2100 and will be called 2750. The lifting capacity will be 220 ton/mtr !! Some lifting data: 45 tons at 3,2 meters, 37 tons at 5,7 meters and 13,8 tons at 15,8 meters. It should be used on vehicles with a total weight of about 40 tons. The boom extends 5x hydraulically. To be able to extend the boom under load, each telescopic part has gotten 2 cylinders (mounted left and right besides the boom).
Furthermore there was a truck mounted unit on the stand, a 1550 8S with double jib (6S + 1S) of Cavicchioli. This crane has a capacity of about 107 ton/mtr and an outreach of 32,45 meter with 1 jib and 36 meter with 2 jibs.
An Effer 850 was displayed as single unit. This model is sold a lot and offers, built on a 4-axled chassis, a good combination of lifting capacity and enough loading capacity.

Fassi

At the Fassi stand there was this 4x extending 800 on display. It is mounted very compact onto a Scania R470 6x2 tractor. At a different stand was this interesting, 8x extending, Fassi 1500 on display. The crane is mounted on the normal Fassi support frame. This frame is strong enough of it’s own to cope with the occuring forces. This make it a good base for a exchangable frame, as done here. By using the Pris-Mag change system and placing an Iveco engine on top, this crane can be used on any 4-axled chassis.

Ferrari

Ferrari showed their new topmodel, the 990. It is a crane with a boomlength of 24,35 meters and a lifting capacity of about 65 ton/mtr.

Hiab

At Hiab there where several crane-trucks on display. The first one is a Mercedes 4141 8x4 with a Hiab 800 E6 with E4 jib. Beside that stood a Iveco Trakker 440 8x4 with a rear-mounted Hiab 700 E4 of Sintini for the transport of concrete parts. The most remarkable vehicle was the Astra 88.50 8x8 with tipper and Hiab 700 E9 of Betta Montaggi.

Palfinger

Palfinger displayed 2 truck mounted cranes. The heaviest one was a Palfinger PK 100002. It is the F-model, meaning it extends 7x hydraulically. The jib is a PJ 170E that extends 6x hydraulically. The outreach is 30,2 meters and the lifting capacity is 82,8 ton/mtr. It is mounted on a Scania R500 8x4 and belongs to Renzi Autogru. The second crane is a PK72002 D with a PJ 170C jib. The remarkable thing about this one is the very compact MAN TG-A 25.460 on which it is mounted. It is equiped with a demountable loader box here.

PM

PM didn’t had any built up crane this year. Here you see the heavies models. From right to left it are the 48, 65 and the new topmodel, the 85.
