Volvo FH440 - LCK

The company Lellinge Container & Kran A/S (LCK) from Køge (DK) has added this Volvo FH440 8x4 to their fleet in the year 2006.

A Fassi 1500 was mounted central onto the chassis. It can’t carry any load anymore.

The exhaust had to me moved, on top of a toolbox, to make room for the support leg.

The crane is a Fassi F1500XP.28 with a jib L516. The crane extends 8x hydraulically to a length of 19,4 meters and can still lift almost 4,5 tonnes there. The lifting capacity of the crane is 105,8 ton/mtr. The outreach with the jib is 31,5 meters. The jib has 2 more manual parts that give a total outreach of 35 meters.

The crane is, as usual in Denmark, equiped with 2 winches. This makes it suitable for the lifting and placing of concrete parts.

This crane stands a bit further to the rear and in the other direction as usual, just like the 1500 of LBC. This gives more stability to the front because the crane is further away from those outriggers, it also takes away some load from the front axles.

The Volvo has a chassis that is extended to the front. It’s ot used here, but later on they mounted a front outrigger in there. This can be seen on photos further down.

In 2007 I saw the crane again, this time working on a construction site in Køge. Here it was busy lifting some building materials on the roof. Here we the advantage a jib can have when working on a tight location between buildings. The base crane gives the height, the jib provides the necessary outreach at the desired height.

A larger part of the support frame of these Fassi 1500 cranes are built in Italy. As the truck doesn’t have a loading floor, the front and rear outriggers can be the same model and can be mounted above the chassis of the truck.

In the meantime they reinforced the frame of the Volvo to the front and mounted a fifth outrigger. This way the crane can be used at full load in all directions. The crane operater is standing at the roof of the building and is using a remote control.
