If you got Obelix you also need Asterix :-)
This is the 2nd crane truck of the Lastbilcentralen on this site, it is also a Fassi 1500 like the Obelix.
This Fassi 1500 has been mounted on a special Scania, a R480 in 8x8 version. Here it is visible that the crane is, just like the other 1500, mounted the other way around. This means that the telescopic boom is facing the cab in folded position.
This type of crane base can be ordered factory made, even with rear legs. As they didn't want to mount te legs above the floor, but underneath the chassis, they only ordered the base frame from the front legs to the rear of the chassis.
The connection to the Scania chassis and the mounting of the rear legs was done in Denmark.
Here the Scania starts setting up the crane for a small demonstration, first of all the outriggers are extended.
The reason that this Fassi is mounted on a Scania 8x8 depends on the work that LBC is doing with it. This Scania is mainly on the road with a 4-axled drawbar trailer to transport/move mobile summer houses (text on the side: sommerhusflytning). These are wooden houses without a solid foundation that can easily be moved from one location to the other.
These houses often stand at locations that are not really good accesable, for example in forests or even on/near the beach. The 8x8 drive doesn't have any problems with such conditions.
This is also the reason that this crane doesn't have a jib, the weight of such houses is enough to max out the base crane. On the floor lies a large spreader which is used to lift such large objects.
The truck alone weighs around 32 tonnes itself, the loading box is only used to transport lifting material. Beside the legal roads it could also be used to carry material into cramped situations (when there is no room for a trailer).
Here we see that, because the crane is mounted the other way around, the turntable has a reasonable distance to the front legs. This way the crane can also lift something over the front edges of the truck. It also is good for the weight distribution on the truck.
The F1500AXP.28 is at full length here, with 8x hydraulic extensions that makes 19,4 meters. It still lifts about 4,5 tonnes here. The maximum lifting capacity of the crane is 105,8 ton/mtr. A manual extension gives a total outreach of 21,8 meters.
2 more pictures of the truck in transport position. The front bumper has a nice construction with a drawbar coupling mounted to it. This is especially usefull when the drawbar trailer has to be manouevred into cramped situations.
Again a very nice crane truck of the LBC and a rather rare combination !!
