Scania R560 - Arrighetti

At August 2008 this very nice Scania was added to the fleet of Arrighetti from Buscate (near Milan).

The Scania is a 8x2*6, which means that the 3rd axles is driven and the other 3 axles are steering. This gives good manoevrability in cramped situations.

Arrighetti mainly transports and installs machines. This is usually done in hals and in places with a paved road, this means that a 8x2 is sufficient.

The Scania has the 16 liter V8 under the cab, the version with 560 hp. They have chosen the Highline cab, it's height fits good with the crane.

Despite that it is a working truck, it has gotten a very nice finish with the painting and the Alcoa rims. The cab was styled with the new fresh logo, the old logo can be seen at this truck of Arrighetti.

The truck seen from the side, the crane catches the eye as it is longer than the cab. At this side of the chassis there is a big box for lifting materials, aswell as a smaller box between the rear axles.

The Scania has a fixed mounted flatbed which now carries a Galizia Gru 150. Behind the rear outriggers they mounted a toolbox which contains longer parts of a lifting beam.

Mr. Arrighetti took the time to demonstrate the crane, despite that I visited the company at a Saterday. Here it starts unfolding. The crane is a Cormach 125000 E9, a crane that can extend 9x hydraulically to a length of 19 meters. At that distance it can still lift 4,55 tonnes!

The crane has 4 outriggers. Notice that the front outrigger at this side is mounted higher, it is mounted above the outrigger that extends to the other side. This saves length on the crane base. The rear outriggers are also made by Cormach.

Here we see that this outrigger is at the normal height. Also notice the raised exhaust, it is a very thin version that fits perfectly between the crane and the cab. When driving on the road, the lower standard exhaust is used, during crane work the raised exhaust is opened.

The crane has maximum lifting capacity of 95,6 ton/meter on a distance of 5,24 meters, it can lift 18,35 tonnes there. The maximum load is 27,6 tonnes at 3,4 meters distance.

The typical Cormach design can be recognized from this side. The telescopic boom is mounted between the crane foot and main boom, this way there is no torsion in sideway direction working on the crane base.

Here we have a better look at the crane base, the rotating bearing of the crane is very sturdy because of the larger dimensions of the foot. The crane was painted in a nice white & red color scheme, it fits the rest of the truck very well.

Here we see the crane with 8 of the 9 parts extended, which gives an outreach of 17 meters. The crane was delivered without a hydraulic jib. They do own a short manual jib, specially made for lifting heavy loads.

A better view on the Galizia that has also been painted in the very nice colors. It is a G150 that can lift a maximum of 15 tons at it's telecopic boom. It has got 2 swiveling jibs mounted, a short heavy one and a longer one at the other side. The crane has a set of batteries in the rear and is operated electically. It can still drive under full load.

The Scania has got a coupling at the rear so that it can be combined with a drawbar trailer. One of the available trailers is this interesting Bertoja unit, it is a 2 axled lowbed version with a floor height of only 40 cm!

Many thanks to Mr. Arrighetti for this demonstration
