Renault C520 - Lafforgue Sarl
In Toulouse I was lucky enough to spot this truck during his work.
The truck is owned by the company Lafforgue Sarl, a steeel construction company from France.
The base is a Renault C520 8x4*4, so with a steering rear axle. The C-model series is the heavy version for offroad use.
The long wheelbase is necessary to create enough stability for the rear mounted Palfinger PK165002. The empty weight of this trucks is 34,2 tons according to the data-sticker on the 2nd dieseltank behind the cab.
The flatbed holds 2 ballast weights of 3,5 tons each for further stability, so that 100% stability to the rear becomes possible. The rack at the front holds a lot of heavy hook-blocks for all kinds of different jobs.
At the rear we see where the rest of the stability of the crane is coming from, these 2 additional outriggers that flip down. I already saw a similar solution once on this MAN of STM.
This Palfinger is a PK165002 in F version. It extends 7x to 16,2 meters with 6,8 tons capacity. It's really impresive to have such a strong crane rear mounted with full stability!
Here we have a better view on these 2 outriggers at the rear.
As this company always uses this truck on this kind of construction sites, it can always be parked with the rear to the building, giving maximum lifting capacity.
These outriggers flip down by an internal cylinder. They can also be used on uneven terrain, as the come down from above and are not hindered by height differences.
This trailer is used to transport the 7 tons of ballast that is now on the truck. I also suspect that one of fork lifts on this job is transported on this trailer. The Renault has an allowed total weight of 55 tons.
The free space on the Renault on this side was used for storage.
Again the rack at the front and below it the oil coolers of the crane.
The oil tank of the crane is installed between the cab and body.
The crane is the F-version, because that can be combined with the PJ300L-F jib. That is the long jib that extends 7x and provides 19,7 meter additional outreach, which is more than that of the base crane! At full length of 35,9 meter it can still lift 1,12 tons. More interesting for this kind of work is the capacity at height. The maximum capacity at 20 meters of height is 6,2 tons, or 10 tons at 13 meters of height. With this long jib, combined with the rear mounted crane, it can span over the entire construction site.
Here we are 2 days later, where a heavy roof section was installed at once.
A beautifull truck with a very purpose built body!

Below you can see a video of this truck at work.
