MAN 41.604 - Westdijk B.V.

First of all the lowloader-bed is lowered  until it lays on the ground. After that the boom of the excavator is raised. The machine stands on the bed on wooden blocks which lay between the bed and the undercarriage. This makes the machine very unstable. Therefore some wooden blocks are being put under the tracks to prevent the machine from tumbling over.

After  that the boom is put on the ground. The wooden blocks under the tracks are being removed. The excavator now leans forward so that the wooden blocks under the back of the undercarriage can be removed.

Now the excavator pushes itself backward so that the blocks under the front side of the undercarriage can also be removed.

Under the tip of the boom is also some wood to prevent damage.

Now all the wood has been removed and the excavator stands on the ground with it's tracks .

Now it is time to remove the goose-neck and dolly from the trailer. It is pulled forward by the tractor. Now the excavator can drive away from the bed of the trailer.

After the excavator is gone, the dolly is being coupled to the trailer again. Everything is being connected again and all unnecessary axles are lifted. Some problems came when the combination tried to turn on the yard. Not an easy job with a vehicle length between 25 and 30 meters!!

Here we see the empty combination that is ready for the next job!
