DAF 95-380 - Jan van Schie

Here we have a DAF 95 tractor with 380 hp in a 6x2 configuration. This truck, just like the DAF 3600, has been modified to efficiently transport draglines and foundation equipment. The usual way to transport this equipment in the Netherlands is with the boom of the machine being layed over the roof of the cabin. Therefore the cabin had to be lowered.

This conversion hasn't been done by DAF, but is done by Ginaf. During this conversion the cabin has been removed and is then placed again further to the front and in a lower position. A piece of the bottom of the cabin has been cut out to make place for the engine. Because of this conversion one bed has to be removed, so the cabin now only has one bed left. On this pictures the truck can be seen with a 3-axle lowloader build by Nooteboom. The load consist of a relatively light Caterpillar M312 mobile excavator which weighs about 12 tons.

Here we have a look at the engine which is partly covered by the cabin. We also have a good view on the strut for the booms of draglines. This strut prevents that the boom comes in touch with the roof of the cabin.

From the side you can see that the cabin has been moved quite a distance! The original mudguard has been closed and a new one is cut out of the cabin's bodywork.

The unloading is quite simple which such a light machine. The machine can easily be driven over the back of the trailer without supporting or lowering the trailer.
