Utrecht 2003 - 2

This Scania P144G-530 of Jan van Schie is a completely custom build truck.

The big difference between Brouwers truck is de position of the 5th axle. It is placed behind the tandem. This decreases the turning radius of the tractor.

While the tandem is located further to the front, the fifth wheel also has to be mounted at a position pretty far to the front. Therefore they also needed a longer gooseneck. Here we can see how long the gooseneck really is. It is obviuos that this tractor will only be used with this lowloader because the fifth wheel isn’t slideable.

A other large modification is the mounting of a P cab. A small cab with a large V8 engine demands some serious changes of the engine-tunnel in the cab. The roof has been flattened to create space for the boom of one of Van Schie’s own Junttan pile-drivers.

Behind the cab we find a storage box and a protective strut. The truck is equiped with an Opticruise gearbox.

The lowloader is Nooteboom built unit and it has 6 pendular Axles. While the allowed load of one axle-line can be 16 Tonnes, only 3 axle lines are needed.
