Mawev 2006 - 2

The heaviest crane truck at the Kogler area was this impressive Volvo FH16 with a Fassi 1500 of Gruschina from Vienna.

It is a Volvo FH16 8x4 tractor that has been equiped with a loader box. Remarkable is the short wheelbase for a crane of this size.

The crane is a Fassi F1500AP.28 with a L516 jib. This crane has lifting capacity of almost 106 ton/mtr. The crane extends 8x hydraulically to 19,4 meters where it can still lift an impressive 4,5 tons.

With jib the outreach, by extending 6x hydraulically, is increased to 31,5 meters. The manual extensions give it a total outreach of 35 meters. At that distance it can lift a load of 600 kg. The own weight of this tractor is about 31 tons, the weight of the crane itself is almost 15 tons.

With a crane of this size, good stability from the outriggers is a must. Therefore it has 6 outriggers mounted around the truck. The front outriggers even extend 6x sideways to get an wide enough support base. With this tractor the front area of the chassis is also strenghtened. With this truck is was built so strong that the crane can do it’s normal work in the front area of the truck. A rebuild of this size is not cheap (a complete new chassis is built around the existing chassis), but is absolutely necessary when a crane of this size should be able to lift items in this area.

At the end of the show the single cranes where stored away. Therefore they used the Fassi 1500. The jib of the crane has been layed down on the loader box. Here it is lifting a Fassi F360XP, and putting it down beside the Actros. The boom is fully extended and lifting a load of about 4 tons!

The next crane to be lifted was a Fassi F800Xp, a crane that weighs about 7 tons.

A load of this size can be lifted at a distance of 13,5 meters by this Fassi 1500.

The 800 was placed on the loading box of Hubers Scania.
