P. Brame & Straumann - Turbine Transport 2

At one of the bridges the exit is situated behind the bridge, therefore the transport has to change lanes...

...to leave the highway via this access. They enter the highway again via the opposite exit.

Click on the picture to the left to see how that went.

Movie is  +/-6 Mb large and needs an up-to-date Quicktime installation.

After Selestat there where some smaller roads, even some with traffic islands which had to be run over.

And again they had to leave the highway to go around a bridge.

Here the transport could directly enter the access from the exit.

Before Strasbourg there was this roundabout on a bridge.

Destination reached, Strasbourg harbour. Here the turbine was unloaded with a 300 tonnes portal crane.

As mentioned before, the tractor unit is a Scania R164G-580 that has been built by Laxa. It is equiped with the 16 liter V8 engine of Scania that delivers 580 hp together with 2700 Nm of torque. Behind the engine hangs a ZF WSK 440 together with a 16 S 251 gearbox.

This Scania has been finished beautifully with a lot of sprayed and stainles steel parts. It even has aluminum rims.

Behind the cab there is, on the left-side, a large engine cooler. Below that they mounted a rost-free toolbox.

Also notice the fine details as the sprayed cooler and the silver-colored Scania logo on it.

This tractor has the same wheelbase as Trans Annabergs Scania. At this side they mounted 2 dieseltanks and a raised exhaust. Another toolbox is mounted between the axles.

At the rear side we see a heavy coupling to which the Nicolas platform is connected.

Here is the Renault R390.35 T that pushed the transport.

It’s a 6x4 tractor that is equiped with a ballast box.

Here 2 detailpictures of the Airbush on this tractor. The upper is Brame’s Nicolas.

Thanks a lot to the team of P. Brame !!
