Volvo FH - Spezi-Kran
This is the new Volvo FH of Spezi-Kran from Muri (CH).

The Volvo FH is delivered with the low roof cab and has been equiped with a steering tag-axle, what makes it a 10x4*6. This Volvo has gotten the first Effer 2655 mounted that was delivered to Switzerland.

This side of the chassis holds the mufler and the dieseltank.

On the rear of the chassis they mounted a large box which can fit stuff like the big wooden blocks that are used for the outriggers. It has a door to the rear which has got a integrated stairs.

On top of that box there is space for utilities, like this hopper.

From this side the first things that catches the eye is the long outrigger. Instead of straight outriggers like the 2655 of Müller, this crane has got 4 swivveling outriggers that are mounted to the base of the crane. This give a very flexible system with many possible combinations. These legs do need their space, but therefore provide a very good stability. The maximum outrigger base is 12 meters long and 12,7 meters wide.

The Effer 2655 was busy lifting rocks into a garden. These rocks wheren't that heavy, only 300 to 400 kg each, which isn't a real challenge for this crane. Before that, some big bags with material where lifted into the garden, those where heavier.

This 2655 is also the 7S version with the 6S jib, which means that the base crane is 27,45 meters long and the crane with jib has a maximum outreach of 50,1 meters. A load of 520 kg can be lifted at that distance.

As the outriggers at the lifting side take up most of the space, the ones on this side could only be extended and swivveled out a little bit. The position of the outriggers is known to the computer, and it will adjust the lifting capacity according to it.

This was the last rock that was lifted this day.

And on to it's way into the garden. At the rear of the crane foot there is a frame. This is a construction of Hodel, the installer of the crane, which will be used to hold ballast in the future. This gives more stability during lifts on large distances. The truck now weighs about 48 tons, which is just enough for a crane of this size and length. A little more ballast helps increasing it's stability. The ballast will be stored on top of the large box at the end of the chassis.

Although the crane is only partly extended, it will still reach about 30 to 33 meters far here!

Lifting is done, the crane gets folded. From lifting to transport mode took about 10 to 12 minutes, which is not bad for a crane this size.

We see here that the crane foor is set further to the rear as the version that Müller uses. Therefore this crane will fold down in the other direction.

Ready for transport. The front outrigger at the bumper provides more stability when working to the front. The normal outriggers alone are not enough, because in this direction the engine and cab don't act as ballast.

The front outriggers tilt upwards. Both rear outriggers are tiltable, but stay in there normal position when driving.

And back on the road for the nex job. Again a very nice crane truck from Switzerland!
