This Volvo FM440 8x4 is owned by Johannesen Kran- & Maskintransport from Copenhagen. This Volvo works for the Fredericia department. |
The truck is equiped with a Herkules crane, an old Danish crane builder, usual meant for the local market.
To get a reduced height of the truck of about 3 meters, they have chosen a car-transporter cab. This cab is already flat on top from the factory.
The Herkules that is installed here is a MT120 that used to be mounted on a F12. After the revision by TMP Hydraulik the crane is as good as new again and can work for many more years.
The Volvo pulls a 3-axled drawbar trailer that carries 2 machines that have to be unloaded here.
The crane has 6 outriggers, the normal 4 at the front and at the rear, and 2 additional legs at the rear that can pivot backwards to provide stability to the rear during heavy lifts in that direction.
The lifting table of this 3x hydraulically extending 120 ton/meter crane is:
3 meter - 40 ton
3,8 meter - 31,5 ton
4,9 meter - 24,5 ton
6,6 meter - 17,5 ton
8,5 meter - 13,5 ton
10,5 meter - 10 ton
The outriggers are set and the crane is being set up. |
Here the first machine is unloaded. The machines only weighed a few tonnes, not a really heavy job for this crane.
To get the machine through the door it had to be lifted in the middle. This way the boom could get low enough. Also notice the impressive size of the turntable and the foot of the crane.
A last glance at this crane as the 2nd machine is being unloaded. That a crane like this is completely revised and used again in a 2nd live shows the quality of the Herkules brand in those days!
