Volvo FH520 - J. Ødums
End june 2009 I saw this new Volvo FH520 of J. Ødums eftf from Randers (DK) during a job.

It is a Volvo FH520 (of the 3rd FH generation) 8x4 tractor that is fitted with a demountable loading box here. Behind the tractor hangs a 3-axled exentable Broshuis drawbar trailer.

Hadsten Tipservice installed a Palfinger PK150002 crane behind the cab.

It is the G-version with 8 hydraulic extensions and an outreach of 18,8 meters, there it can still lift 4,8 tonnes. The oiltank between the crane and the cab is new and also contains the dieseltank. This way the space at the chassis is free for toolboxes.

Crane installer Hadsten also reinforced the chassis between crane and front bumper, this way the crane can be used to the front with it's full load. A Volvo chassis offers a good base for such a reinforcement.

The Volvo was here together with this DAF 95XF that is equiped with an Effer 1150, more pictures of this truck can be seen here. The DAF is coupled to a 3-axled Broshuis semi-lowloader which already has a silo loaden on it.

The Volvo was put beside another silo so that it can be loaden onto the drawbar trailer. The DAF was parked at the rear side. The base crane is equiped with a 6x extending jib, type PJ170E. This gives a total hydraulic outreach of 31,8 meters. With 1 manual part the total outreach is 33,6 meters with a lifting capacity of 920 kg. The DPS (Dual Power System) gives the jib a higher lifting capacity when the last telescopic part of the main crane is not extended.

Here both cranes are connected to the sile. This weighs about 5 tonnes, not a poblem for the Palfinger alone, but lifting together is easier and quicker.

The load is hanging in the cranes and is being guided to the extended drawbar trailer.

This side of the chassis is filled with large toolbox, the space between the front axles is filled with the Volvo mufler. The winch on the crane can be seen from here.

The space around the fith wheel has been nicely covered with a steel plate, very common in Denmark. The loading box leans on 4 couplings and easily be taken off. The rear support beam is mounted a little bit higher so that the drawbar coupling and the lights can be mounted underneath it.

The silo is loaden and the crane is in transportposition, the combination is ready to go to the customer.

More toolboxes where mounted at this side of the chassis. The space between the front axels has a small box together with the Ad-Blue tank. The top railing of the silo is carried on the loading box.

A nice combination!!
