Volvo FH16-650 - Trombert
This is the Volvo FH16 of the company Trombert from Les Crosets (CH).
It's a Volvo FH16-650 in 10x4*6 layout, meaning it has a steering rear axle for more manoeuvrability. They have chosen a rather short wheelbase. This truck is being used a region with a lot of mountains, so manoeuvrability is very important here.
An Effer 1405 was installed behind the cab by Hodel Betriebe. It's the version with the normal outriggers. To reach full capacitiy to the front, Hodel reinforced the frame with a 45t front outrigger package.
The Volvo was loaded here with lang pieces of wood. These where loaded over the roof, to decrease the overhang at the rear.
The Effer 1405 was ordered in the longest version, the 9S. It reaches up to 22 meter with 3,42 tons. With the 6S jib the total outreach becomes 35 meters with 880kg capacity.
The front wall of the flatbed holds an assortment of chains.
This side was used to mount the dieseltank. The 2-part exhaust system of Volvo is ideal for such cramped installations. With many other brands, the exhaus unit would be at the position of the dieseltank.
A support was installed between the exhaust and the cab. That way these kind of loads are made possible by loading them over the roof.
With a dead weight of 33,2 tons, it can still haul 6,8 tons within the 40 tons limit in Switzerland.
A very nice crane truck!
