The company Sparr Dach from Sulz (A) has this Volvo FH12-460 8x4 crane-truck in it’s fleet.

It’s a truck that can be used in several configurations. Here it is equiped with a loading box and is used as a normal lorry.

The crane is a Palfinger PK 120000 G, this is a 8x hydraulically extending crane with a maximum lifting capacity of 95 ton/mtr.

The standard outreach is 18,8 meter where it will still lift 4,25 ton. With the jib that is mounted here, the outreach is extended with almost 14 meter (4x hydraulically and 3x manually). The total outreach is about 33 meters where 650 kg is the limit.

When there is no load to transport, the crane is being laid over the loading box. This way the crane can be set up faster on the building site and the load division of the truck is also better.

The Volvo can also be used as a tractor, therefore the loading box has to be taken off. The crane is folded here so that the box can be taken off (with a forklift truck).

And a few minutes later the Volvo has become a tractor.

Here we can clearly see the large size of a crane in this lifting class. The oiltank with coolers is mounted above the front outriggers. Behind the crane and between the axles some toolboxes are mounted. Because Sparr doesn’t have so much trailers, they didn’t mount a sliding fifth wheel but gave it a fixed position.

A very nice Volvo and as far as I know of, the only Palfinger PK 120000 in the Vorarlberg region!
