Scania P124C-420 - Tagliavini

In the tight inner-city of Bologna (I) I could photograph this very interesting Scania P124C-420 of Tagliavini during a job.

The Scania is a 8x4 and is equiped with an Effer 2200 CL/6S. Remarkable is the very compact way of building the truck, this makes it very manoeuvrable in the city.

The crane is supported with 4 free turning outriggers that are all double extandable. During transport, the outrigger legs are turned towards eachother. The outrigger legs then are beside the dieseltanks (left and right - that is the reason why the tanks are so small).

The advantage of these outriggers is, like mentioned earlier, that the entire truck be very short and compact. The disadvantage is that there always has to be enough space to rotate the outriggers into position. These rotating outriggers ofcourse have the other advantage that the finding of a good spot for the foot is easier, with fixed outriggers it is not always that easy.

A 2200 is the largest Effer, it has a lifting capacity of about 160 ton/mtr and a maximum length of 22 meter. Closer to the crane, at 3,5 meter, it lifts it maximum load of almost 39 tons. At 20 meter distance this still is 7,14 tons. The jib can also extend 6x hydraulically and it doubles the outreach to 45 meter. A load of 700 kg can be lifted there.

Some parts had to be lifted onto the roof of this building. At the other side of the building stood this Liebherr MK 80.

This Scania P93H-280 6x2 with Effer E100-3s was delivering one of the parts.

Here the 2200 was lifting the first parts of the roof. Clearly visible is that the jib is very usefull for working on the roof, with the truck standing very near to the building. Unfortunately I couldn’t photograph the rest of this job.
