Scania R620 - Tage E. Nielsen

In 2009 this Scania R620 8x4 was added to the fleet of Tage E. Nielsen from Herning (DK).

A Effer 1750L, meaning it is the long version, was installed behind the cab. The long version only folds down in the driving direction.

The support frame for the 1750 has got 6 outriggers, 4 sideways and 2 at a extending beam at the end of the chassis. The space between the axles was filled with a toolbox.

The previous pictures showed the Scania with a jib in transport position. This picture shows the crane without the jib but with 3 heavy manual extensions. A strut has been mounted at the rear of the loading box on which the boom can lie down during road transport, this way it can be set up quicker. The pulleys that are mounted here can be used as a double or triple rope version which increases the lifting capacity of the winch.

A large dieseltank is mounted at this side of the chassis, it can be filled when the loading box above it is opened. Two nice raised exhausts are mounted between the crane and the cab. Two big coolers for the cranes hydraulics where mounted on top of the front outriggers.

I could photograph this Scania in action at a construction site near Herning.

Bo Nielsen is connecting some chains to the tip of the jib here. Behind the Scania hangs an interesting 4-axled drawbar trailer that was built by Dinkel from Germany. It has allowed a total weight of 29,6 tonnes.

Here the crane is rotated towards the load ...

... a concrete beam, weighing a few tonnes.

Here the 2nd beam is lifted and also put onto the drawbar trailer. The installed crane is an Effer 1750L in the 8S version. The base crane has a maximum lifting capacity of 117 ton/mtr. The outreach with 8 hydraulic telescopic extensions is 24,05 meters where it can still lift 3,66 tonnes.

Both beams are loaden on the trailer and the crane has been put down, the truck now drives to the other side of the construction site.

There the outriggers where extended again and the crane was set up. The first beam has been put onto the ground and is now hooked on one side so that it hangs vertical when it is lifted.

The jib is also the long version that extends 6x hydraulically. This gives a total outreach of 41,03 meter at which the crane can lift 640 kg. The 2 manual extensions give about 5 meters of extra outreach.

Another view on the truck.

This jib can lift a maximum load of 6 tonnes when it is not extended. These beams don't cause any trouble for this crane right here. The next day they would lift 13 tonnes beams, a job that can only be done with the base crane.

After both beams where installed and fixated the crane was folded down again and the truck was placed nicely in the sun for a picture....

... which gave this nice result! Many thanks to the Nielsen company!

After that the truck drove away, leaving a load of dust behind him after a long day.
