In 2007 this Scania T143 of Madsen AS stood in Skien (N) where I could photograph it.

Based on it's colors, it is an ex-Maskintransport AS tractor unit.

It is a T143H-500 8x4 tractor. The 2nd front axle was installed localy, it is a SAF axle.

The tridem is completey air suspended.

A long sliding 5th wheel is installed on the chassis. At the rear of the frame we see connections for an additional tag axle.

It is pulling a 4-axled Vang's lowloader.

The 4th axle is flipped up hydraulically. This gives advantages in some regions in norway, that have different street laws.

The axle flips down hydraulically and is then bolted to the rear of the chassis.

A nice classic heavy transport tractor!
