Scania T164G-580 - Ligro Trading

Since a few weeks Ligro Trading has taken this new Scania T164G-580 in service, as a follower of the Scania T144G-530. Here it is pictured with a 4-axled Nooteboom lowloader with a Caterpillar 972G (26 tonnes) wheelloader as a load.

This tractor is equiped with a ZF WSK 440 (torque converter) together with a 16 S 251 gearbox.

The tractor was delivered late 2003 by Laxa, after that it has gotten a 10 ton liftable axle of Veenhuis vehicle engineering. The wheelbase of this tractor is equal to that of the old Scania torpedo.

It all was a bit tight to get the correct fifth wheel position because the old tractor didn’t had a tower with additional cooling. That is why the tower has been built in a V-shape so that the front of the trailer still has enough place to rotate. In the midle of the tower there is a dieseltank, to the right there are some storage compartments.

Therefore the cooler had to be moved further to the side. Above you can see this, the left image shows the current situation, the right image shows the standard position as build by Laxa.

For heavier loads (for instance Caterpillars 990 or 385) a 2-axled Interdolly can be coupled to the trailer.

To the right side we see another dieseltank (total capacity about 1100 liter) and a hydraulic tank for the steering of the Veenhuis axle.

At this side there are some storage compartments and a raised exhaust.
