This Scania R420 8x4 is at service at P.E. Kristensen from Roskilde (DK).
The Scania is equiped with an Effer 1750L, the long version that folds down in driving direction.
The crane was mounted by KL-Kranservice. It has 6 outriggers, 2 at the cranes feet, 2 at the rear of the chassis and 2 at a extandable rack at the rear of the loading box. The own weight of such vehicles is near 32 tonnes, which means that it won't carry any load anymore.
Here the crane truck was working beside a new building in Copenhage. One clear advantage of a knuckleboom-crane can be seen here. The crane only needs outriggers in the working direction, therefore it only uses one track of the road (in this case it was even the parking strip) and doesn't block the rest of the traffic.
The crane was used with a worksmanbasket to work on the roof, not visible here. The crane driver is standing at the side of the roof and operates the crane with a remote control.
The crane is a, as already mentioned, 1750L. The long version telescopes 8x hydraulically to a length of 24 meters where it can lift 3,66 tonnes. With the (6x entending) jib that is mounted here, the crane can reach up to 41 meters. The two installed manual extensions give a total outreach of 45 meters, or a lifting height of 49 meters.
The outriggers at this side are extended completely for a good stability. In the meantime a second Kristensen Scania come to this job, this one is equiped with a Palfinger PK100002 and is delivering windows.
As the crane only has to lift over the side, the rear outriggers aren't used here. The load that has to be lifted istn't that heavy either, the crane is used here because of the height of the building.
The Palfinger has started to unload and mount the glas-windows he brought with him.
