This is the new heavy transport tractor of Klepp Spesialtransport from the similar named place (Kleppe) near Stavanger (N). |
It is a completely air suspensioned Scania R620 in 8x4 layout with a Highline cab. |
They have chosen a 2+2 axle layout because this gives high axle loads in Norway. Both front axles are allowed to have 9 tons each, the rear axles are allowed for 12 tons each. |
A 5th axle can be connected to the rear of the chassis, which can also have a load of 12 tons. The long slideable table for the fifth wheel and the complete air suspension provide a good weight distribution on all the axles. |
A 3-axled locally built lowloader is connected to the tractor. |
The trailer can also be equiped with an extra axle, shown here. |
As the right side of the chassis is filled with a dieseltank, the left side is used for the AdBlue tank. |
The tower with storage compartments is completely built from stainless steel. The tractor also has trailer hydraulics, which can be seen by the connected hydraulic lines below the normal connections. |
The 5th axle is not connected here, that is why the sliding table has to be in the front position to get enough load on the front axles. |
The truck doesn’t have a torque converter. |
