I could photograph this nice Scania of H. Nielsen & Sønner from Bagsværd (DK) in 2009 near Copenhagen. |
It's a Scania R480 8x4 tractor unit that is equiped with an Effer 1550 crane. |
In the side-view we see that this crane takes away a bit more than a cab's length. The oiltank was place above the outriggers, the space between the axles was filled with toolboxes.
A small V-shaped box is mounted between the tandem, it has a drawer which makes it easy to load chains in there. The area around the fifth wheel is completely covered with steel plate, so that you can walk there.
The Scania pulls a german 2-axled M&V semi-lowloader. |
The truck came here to do a lifting job, therefore it was parked close the building. |
After that, the outriggers are extended. |
And the crane is being set up. The Effer 1550 that is mounted here is the 8S version, meaning it extends 8x hydraulically tot a length of 19,91 meters where it can still lift 4,28 tonnes. The 6S jib extends 6x and gives a total outreach of 32,45 meters. The maximum load on the jib is 5,7 tonnes, at 32,45 meters it's still 1030 kg.
Every now and than someone asks me what a manual part means, so here we have a explaining picture. They are called manual parts because the driver has to extend them from hand (manually) and has to fixate them with a pin. This means that these parts cannot move anymore when you start lifting. This jib has got 2 manual parts, which gives it about 4,5 to 5 meters of extra reach. At the head of the 6th hydraulic part we see the sheeves for the winch-cable. With Effers Wind and Drive system, these parts don't have to be demounted and can stay at the crane.
The object that had to be lifted, if I recall correctly it is something for the ventilation, was already on the scene and was brought by this forklift.
After that is was connected, the crane driver went up on the roof. Soon the boom of the crane was also there and the unit was lowered into the building through the roof.
Some pictures of the crane at work... |
After this job, some trash form the construction was lifted off of the roof. |
And within several minutes the crane was folded down again and the truck was ready to roll.
