Scania R620 - Grollitsch

This is the new crane truck of the company Grollitsch from Villach (A).

The base is a interesting Scania. It's a very short and manaouvrable 10x4*6, meaning the first 2 and the last axled are steered. It has the 620 hp 16 liter V8 engine underneath it's Topline cab.

The installation of the body was done by Ressenig, they installed the Effer 1750. It's the normal version that can still fold down behind the cab. The 8x extending version of the crane was installed, this one reaches out 19,72 meter with a load of 5,38 tonnes! The heavy duty jib on this crane gives an outreach of 31,94 meter with a capacity of 1,64 tonnes. This jib can lift a maximum load of 8,1 tonnes! With 2 manual extensions, one of them being used here, the total outreach can be almost 36 meters.

Here you can really see how tight everything has been build. The Scania can also be used as a tractor, so nothing could be higher than the mudguards. This is why all the space between the tyres is filled up as good as possible. At the fifth wheel a loading box can be mounted like here. It can also take on the recovery unit that can be seen on the Volvo VN of Grollitsch. Recovering trucks is one of the main activities of this company.

Everything that didn't fit between the wheels was mounted around the crane, like the oiltank, the coolers and the air barrels. These parts disappear behind a nice wind cover. Between the wheels we see the Ad-Blue tank and the muffler.

All the free space at this side is also filled with storage compartments.

This side was used to mount the dieseltank and some more air barrels. Also a larger toolbox was mounted here.

And 3 more pictures of the job where it was working. A house was getting new roof tiles, these where lifted to the roof pallet-wise and than unloaded there. As the truck is equiped with reinforced chassis to the front, it is no problem to use the crane in the area in front of the cab. The modified bumper with extra outriggers is a very nice solution on this vehicle.

Here the material had to be lifted far away. The jib makes it possible to lift over the top of the roof without having to relocate the truck, it can stay on this location the whole day.

A truly beautifull crane-truck that still had a few hours of work to do here!
