This recovery truck of Rana Billopphugging AS is in service for Falck and works in the Mo I Rana (N) area.
It is a Scania R500 in 8x4 version that has a Topline cab.
The recovery unit is a Vulkan, built by Miller industries. It is a V70 model that has a maximum capacity at the boom of just a bit more than 30 tonnes (70000 lbs). When the boom is extende it can still lift 12,7 tonnes. The boom is situated in the top of the boom that also connects to the underlift.
The capacity of the underlift is, in retracted position, almost 16 tonnes. In extended position it is still 7,3 tonnes. Left and right ground shovels are mounted, they are there to keep the truck positioned during heavy work with the winches.
Both winches have a capacity of about 16 tonnes.
A very nice recovery unit!
Beside the garage stands this old Scania Vabis, the predecessor of many other units.
It is equiped with a rather primitive (or modern for those days) recovery unit.
