Scania T580 - Busengdal
In 2007 I could photograph this very nice Scania of Busengdal Transport in Stordal (N).
The tractor is a Scania T580 that was originaly a 6x4 unit. At Straumen Bil it was converted to this 8x4+2 configuration. They chose the high Topline cab
So the base was a 6x4. A BPW pusher axle was installed to make it a permanent 8x4.
With the installation of this detachable 5th axle it becomes an 8x4+2 tractor. This is also a BPW axle, a 12 ton unit with tag steering.
The entire unit was finished with some nice stainless steel, for example the exhausts and the cabinet behind the cab, but also the fenders.
Behind the tractor hangs a 4-axled Vangs lowloader.
On the trailer stood a Komatsu PC450 excavator that weighs around 45 tons.
The 4th axle of the trailer can be tilted up hydraulically. This is of interest for empty trips and to meet certain regulations in different regions of norway.
Both sides of the chassis hold a dieseltank like this.
A very nice heavy haulage combination that was replaced by a Volvo FH16-750 8x4+2 with XXL cab. This truck is now running at Erling Rolstad transport.
