This is the recovery truck of Bernard Trucks from Chalon (F).

It's a Renault K480 in 8x4 layout, matching the Renault dealership of this company.

The body was built by Jige.

Here we clearly see the long wheelbase of this truck. This helps with the weight distribution when a heavy trucks is being towed using the lifting arm at the rear.

The body is a Jige Mega 45 with a maximum capacity of 45t at the arm, so at the top with the 2 winches.

When the lifting arm is tilted down but isn't extended, it can lift up to 23 tons with forks that go under the axle of the other truck. This is at about 2 meters behind the body. When lifting with the tire lift, the capacity at this position is 10 tons. At the maximum outreach of about 4,5 meters, the capacity is 8 tons.

Here we see the top of the lifting arm. On top of it they installed the 2 heavy winches. The cables of those run through the sheaves at the end of the arm.

Between the cab and the body stands a piece of ballast, above that the dieseltank. Here we also see the 2 part exhaust system behind the cab. The swivveling legs at the front are from Miller, the give good stability during lifts or when the winches are used to the side. The winch cables can also be run through these legs, so that you tow something from the side.
