Mercedes Titan 4153 - Martens

During a trip in Holland I saw this combination. After following it for a while it stopped at the yard of Jacbo, where it had to unload the machines.

There the combination was backed up into the yard, look at the space the boom needs here.

Here we see the reason why this Mercedes, just as many other heavy transport trucks in Holland, is equiped with a low roof. This way the machine can be transported with the boom turned to the front, demounting it is not necessary here.

The Mercedes of Martens Transport is a 4153 8x4 that has gotten a ZF WSK 400 at Titan.

Here it is coupled to a 5-axled Nooteboom lowloader. For heavier jobs they also have a 3-bed-5 lowloader.

The Ecodrie drilling machine weighs 60 ton is is being unloaded here. First it sets up it’s 25 meter long boom. The loading floor is already lowered to the ground.

The machine uses it own outriggers to push himself up. Now the tracked carrier can be rotated without putting load on the trailer.

With the tracks in this direction the machine can drive of the lowloader.

The tower of this truck had to be adjusted because of the maximum height. The cooler normally stands at the right top corner, but has been moved to the left. Also the battery compartment and some air-barrels moved there.

At the other side there are the airfilter and some toolboxes. The dieseltank has been built as large as possible.

A view at the top of the tower. The cooler is open at the top so that enough air can flow trough. It features an oil-air cooler and a big cooling fan that is cooling the WSK.

The rearside of the chassis, there is no drawbar coupling available.

I am not sure if the height of the cabine was modified, I rather think it’s a cab of a car-transporter.

As far as I know of, this is the only Titan that is this low.
