Mercedes Actros 4148 10x8 - Falck Hadeland

This new Mercedes Actros 4148 10x8 recovery truck was delivered to the Falck department in Gran/Hadeland (N) in May 2004 by SWS (Sweden Wrecker System AB).

The first thing to notice is the 5th axle. This 12 ton steering tag axle has also been placed by SWS. It is a ROR axle that they sell under the name “Nylsbyaxeln”.

The recovery unit is also built by SWS. The liftarm can, closest to the truck, lift a maximum of 20 ton. Maximum outreach is 4,5 meter.

The truck is equiped with a large number of floodlights, in case that there has to be worked at night. The entire recovery unit is radio controlled. Also the telescoping of the lights can be done remote. The 3 rows of orange warning lights at the side of the truck can run in different patterns, from normal blinking to running in a specific direction. At the right top of the unit we see a small hatch that has opened, mounted to it is a camera. On the other side we find a similar one. At the back, between the 2 floodlights, is also one. In total there are 4 camera’s for a “around the truck view”.

At the back of the unit there are 3 winches available, one of 30 ton and 2 with 20 tons of pulling force.

On the lifting arm they mounted this scale model of the truck. Nice detail are the LED’s at the side that blink in a similar pattern as the normal blinking lights.

Behind the large amount of doors you will find all kinds of equipment, tools and even a (current) power supply.

In the front bumper there is also a winch, a 7 ton unit. The bullbar, the amount of lights and the raised exhaust further enhance the appearance of this truck.
