The company Kandt B.V. from Nieuwerkerk a.d. IJsel (NL) bought this special MAN tractor in 2001 for the transport of their own building equipment.

The truck is connected to a 2-axled Nooteboom jeep-dolly with a 4-axled Nooteboom/Cometto lowloader. The tractor still has the classic 2 + 2 axle layout.

Remarkable is how low it has been built. To reach this, some modifications where made. Estepe cut of the roof and MAN adjusted the leaf springs of the front axles. They also mounted tires with a smaller radius at the front axles. The top of the roof now is at 2.6 meters height. This way the booms of equipment can be layed over the roof.

Those of you that spot this truck on the road, should pay some attention to the dolly. The 2nd axle of it is equiped with a electromagnetic retarder (look at the hub reduction). A electromagnetic retarder is a frictionless brake that produces brake power without wear. The brake power is produced by a current/electromagnetic fields. These brakes are very rare in trailers, usually they are/where used in coaches (units of, for instance, Telma or Kloft).

Behind the cab is a tower with a few storage compartments and a 900 liter dieseltank. The MAN is equiped with a ZF WSK 400 torque converter. At this side, between the 2nd front axle and the 1st rear axle, the heat-exchanger of the torque converter is mounted (below the 2 air barrels).

At the other side we also find 2 air barrels, together with the battery compartment.
