Iveco 380 E42 - Warsco Units

This Iveco 380 E42 6x6 crane truck is owned by Warsco Units uit Zutendaal (B).

It is a rare Iveco because it is equiped with a steering widespread rear-axle of Veenhuis vehicle engineering.

A Palfinger PK 75000 E is mounted above the tandem, a crane with a lifting capacity of about 71 ton/mtr. It extends 6x to a length of 15,6 meter. Here the crane the lifts a bit more than 4 tonnes. This is enough for the average units. The outreach can be increased to 23 meters by 3 manual extensions. At 23 meters the capacity is 1,4 tons.

The truck has been equiped with 8 outriggers. 2 at the front bumper, 2 behind the cab, 2 near the crane and 2 that are mounted at a extendable frame at the rear of the chassis. Here this frame is extended, this way they get a better stability when lifting to the rear. All these outriggers give the crane a good support, it has a full lifting table in all directions.

Warsco has choosen a steering rear axle because of the manoeuvrability and also for the their field of application. Because this truck is often used in places where trucks ar not supposed to come (f.i. school yards) a steering axle will prevent the streets from being damaged (no wringing of the tires on the road).

The own weight of this crane truck is about 26 tons. Because it is a truck, it is also allowed to drive on the Belgian highways. Something a mobile crane isn’t allowed to do.

The 2nd crane truck of Warsco is this, alreade 14 years old, Mercedes SK 1935 4x4.

It has been equiped with a Palfinger P520 crane.

This truck also has outriggers all around. The front outriggers extend sideways and to the front, so that they also give stability when lifting to the front.

Because of the 4x4 and 6x6 drive these crane trucks can go almost everywhere.

The units are transported with these Mercedes trucks. They are equiped with a sliding system so that they unload a unit, or take on from the drawbartrailer by theirself.
