On of the latest additions to the fleet of Dick transport from Tubize (B) is this nice Iveco Sivi 540.

It is, as far as I know, the first and only in the 8x6 version in Belgium.

The wheelbase is a bit longer because of the 8x6 drive, the drop-box is hanging directly behind the 2nd front axle. The truck got the name "Moby Dick".

A tower is mounted behind the cab which houses the mufler/exhaust and some air barrels at this side. The free space between the axles was filled with a dieseltank. Another large dieseltank is mounted at the bottom of the tower.

Here it is pulling a 8-axled Nooteboom semi-lowloader. It is also used with other trailers, for instance a 4-axled Nicolas with a 2-axled jeep dolly.

The truck has gotten a permission for 275 tons total weight in Belgium. The 8x6 drive was chosen because of the good traction, especially on curvy roads. This of advantage in Belgium and France where all heavy transports have to be carried out on normal roads, not on the highways.

The free space between the axles was left open here.

This side of the tower houses the cooling. In the front is a large extra radiator to cool the engine's water, behind that stands a large oil-air cooler for the WSK 440 torque converter with retarder. Behind the oilfilter, so beside the battery compartment, lies the standard heat exchanger that is also built into the oil circuit of the WSK.

Under the cab lies a Iveco Cursos 13 engine that delivers 540 hp and 2350 Nm.

A very nice addition to the fleet of Dick that contains only Iveco's !
