Ginaf X5450-S - Stadelmann & Fils SA
This is one of the few Ginaf trucks outside the Netherlands. This one is working at Stadelmann & Fils SA from Collombey (CH).
Ginaf trucks are based on some DAF components, like the cab, engine and transmission and electronics. In this case the 510 hp Paccar engine combined with a ZF transmission. The rest is based on own components, like chassis, axles and suspension.
This model is the Ginaf X5450-S, meaning it is the X series (DAF CF cab) with 5 axles of which 4 are driven. The total weight is 50 tons and the -S indicates that the widespread mounted rear axle steers with Ginaf's own EVS steering system. So this is a 10x8*8 chassis, only the middle axle is not driven.
The truck has air suspension on the first 2 axles and hydro pneumatic suspension at the 3 rear axles, where the 3rd axle can be lifted. The hydro pneamatic suspension beams allow for the movement of the entire rear axle. That axle is steered by 2 hydraulic cylinders that move the whole axle.
This Ginaf was equiped with a heavy Effer crane, a 1355 in 9S version that can reach up to 22 meters with 3,35 tonnes. With the 6S jib it can reach up to 35 meter with 880kg capacity. With the 2 manual extensions in the jib the total outreach becomes 39,1 meter with 465kg. A 2nd jib with 3 extensions is also available. The crane was installed by Hodel Betriebe.
The Effer 1355 was ordered with the Crosstab outrigger system. That means it has a swivveling outrigger on this side. A fixed outrigger that extends diagonal to the front is mounted on the right side, giving in total an outrigger system that also allows for full lifting capacity to the front.
On both sides all free rooms are filled with storage boxes. A big strut was mounted around the oil coolers of the crane. It is there to support long loads that can be loaded over the roof of the cab, usually large wooden beams.
The 10x8 traction combined with the rear axle steering is perfect for this region with it's many mountains and steep narrow streets.
A very interesting and also one-of-a-kind setup!
