This is the new crane truck of Ponton Made from Made (NL). |
It's a DAF XF460 8x4 tractor from the last generation, meaning with Euro 6. They have chosen the Spacecab version.
As Euro 6 vehicles have the need for larger afterthreatment exhausts, usually not much space is left at the chassis. Some space on this side is already taken by the Ad-Blue tank underneath the batteries. Between the axles we see a dieseltank and a small toolbox.
Close behind the cab the installed an Effer 1405 with CroSStab outriggers. This side holds the swivveling outrigger with tilting foot. A storage compartment is mounted between the tandem. It is a drawer that can be pulled out, ideal for chains.
The crane is a 1405 8S, so it extends 8x to 19,65 meters. It can still lift 4,18 tons at that distance. The maximum load is 20,7 ton at 4,6 meters, in between it can do 9,3 tons at 9,57 meters.
The whole chassis is covered in sheet metal, this way the chassis is closed from the top. At the rear of the chassis they mounted a heavy Maxistab outrigger beam. The DAF has got the light tandem, without the planetary drives.
Behind the DAF hangs a Nooteboom semi lowloader, loaded with 2 parts of a ponton. The crane was bought specifically for the transport of such pontons (and their parts). At the destination the crane lowers the seperate parts in the water, where they are connected. As these parts are rather heavy, the crane was ordered without a jib.
This side also has got a drawer between the tandem. The crane holds a 4,5 ton winch. This side has got the fixed outrigger that extends to the front and the side. Both outriggers extend to the front about as far as the front bumper, giving enough stability to do heavy lifts over the cab.
With Euro 6 trucks the exhaust systems have become much larger. DAF offers a 2 part system, where 1 part is mounted directly behind the 1st front axle. The 2nd part is mounted behind the 2nd front axle. This way the chosen 2+2 axle configuration is possible and there is still some room left for storage compartments.
