This very nice Scania crane truck was added to the fleet of Sparr Kran & Trans in 2006. The Scania wasn't delivered in the old livery (white-red) but was painted in the blue-silver colors of the Red Bull/Torro Rosso F1 team. This is done because the truck is also used to set up the Energy Station, the motorhome of these 2 teams. |
It is a Scania R580 8x4 with the Highline cab. Below the loading box is a fith wheel so that it can be used as a tractor. |
Behind the cab they mounted a Palfinger PK100002F, this is a crane with a lifting capacity of 83 ton/mtr. It has a hydraulic outreach of 17,4 meters. |
This side of the chassis was used to mount a large dieseltank and a storage compartment. |
The remaining space at this side was filled with storage compartments. |
Above the front outriggers we see the large oiltank of the crane. The has been equiped with a winch. The Scania has parabolic springs at the front, the rear has air suspension. It has Opticruise, the automatic gearbox of Scania. |
A demonstation, first of all the outriggers are set up. |
Then the crane unfolds itself. |
The crane has a jib, a PJ170E that gives a total outreach of about 30 meters. |
The crane at full height! |
The pictures above where made 2007, these 2 are made in 2006. Here the Scania was standing without the loading box. Clearly visible is how compact the outrigger of a truck-crane can be set when you only have to work in one direction. |
As the truck and the crane have matching colours, you get a really good looking vehicle. |

On to the 5-axled R620 with PK150002 of Sparr >> |
