Another company that transports a lot of coils is A. Rosignoli from Mantova (I). |
So far I have only seen Iveco's from this company, don't know if they other brands. This is a brandnew Sivi-Iveco Trakker 500 8x4 tractor unit. |
It will be pulling a 5-axled DeAngelis coiltrailer when it is in service. |
A small tower has been build behind the cab, it contains the air barrels, the batteries, a dieseltank and the big exhaust. |
The tractor will only be used for coiltransport, that is why the fifth wheel has a fixed position and cannot slide. |
The total weight of the tractor together with the trailer will be around 113 tons! |
This is a similar truck that I once saw on the highway in Italy, it is pulling a DeAngelis 5-axled trailer that is empty right now. The 1st and last axle are lifted. |
This is another version of the coiltransporter, a truck with a drawbar trailer. These combinations can drive with an even higher total weight of 126 tonnes! |
The truck is an Iveco Trakker 500, prepared by Sivi for these high weights. |
The drawbar trailer is the new model from DeAngelis, it has 6 axles. The first 2 axles each have their own bearing on which they steer. From the other 4 axles the first and last are steering and can also be lifted when empty. |
The truck is allowed to have 48 tonnes, the trailer can have 78 tonnes. This gives a total of 126 tonnes. |
The truck and trailer have curtainsider bodies that can open completely so that they can be loaded from the top. |
A nice compact truck-trailer combination. |
